In Windows 7, the Control Panel is also in category view but the option to switch to the classic view has been removed, though you still have the option to show the items in their respective icons only but in different method.
In Windows XP and Windows Vista, Microsoft has changed the Control Panel view to category, where the items are now hidden but are now represented by their respective categories, but you still have the option to show only the respective icons of the items by switching to the classic view. When you go to the Control Panel of the Windows 98, you will find all the items there right away in their respective icons. In Windows 7, Microsoft has changed the way Control Panel looks like from the previous versions of the Windows operating systems.
